The SLEDGE-A-TORIAL - $172k Not Enough for a Congressman?

Well, I'm not exactly surprised, but yet I still feel the need to discuss this.  According to the National Review, during a closed-door meeting to discuss a potiential bill to exempt lawmakers and their staff from the ACA (Obamacare), at some point, Georgia Representative Phil Gingrey (R) brought up the following:

Capitol Hill aides, [Gingrey] said “may be 33 years old now and not making a lot of money. But in a few years they can just go to K Street,” the Washington, D.C., vernacular for becoming a lobbyist, “and make $500,000 a year. Meanwhile I’m stuck here making $172,000 a year.”

Regardless of how much context is brought into play, and how much staffers do actually make, this comment is BEYOND out of touch.  The average American has to work hard to earn it's $51k a year he makes.  That's not even including those who make much less.  Hell, I have one full time job, my business here at Sledgecorp Productions, and a number of part-time jobs, and I STILL have issues making ends meet.

Mr. Gingrey, if you're so upset about only making $172k, why don't you just leave.

Catch ya.
